Sometimes it can feel like our lives are completely out of control – we’re frustrated, exhausted, and we feel helpless. Other times it can be so magical, we can’t imagine it getting any better. In either case, we selectively take responsibility when it best suits us. What does that mean?
It means when things are good, we’re in control of our lives and our actions are the reason it’s so good. When things are not good, we blame everyone and everything else around us – or we resign to believe it’s out of our control.
The hard truth: You cannot selectively choose when to be in charge, and when not to. You’re always in charge. Even when you choose not to take control, you exercise your control by choosing not to be in control. What a fail-proof system!
If you want your life to be one of abundance, joy, challenge, adventure, love – any quality you desire – you have to wake up to the choices before you. Human beings are story tellers, and choose what to make up (what to believe) all the time. What beliefs do you have about the world? About yourself? About the company you keep?
Blake, and his coaches at Applied Happiness Coaching, want to help find answers to these questions with you. The first step to living the life you desire is to get conscious of yourself and your place in the world. What makes you who you are? What are your values? What does your future self have to say about your current state of affairs? What role are you committed to playing out in your life?
When you wake up to life, your options start to unfold like never before. You’re introduced to the bigger game, and the art of conscious, creative decision making – becoming an active participant in your own life.
“Every human has four endowments- self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom… The power to choose, to respond, to change.” ~ Stephen R. Covey
